Performance

We regularly review the outcomes that our work generates for those we support, through a range of regular consultation processes, involving young carers themselves, parents/families and partners.

SCAFT is currently directly supporting over 200 registered young carers and their families across Rochford District, with over 200 more participating in other programs of support that do not require them to register as service users. Based on the 2021 Census, our service users closely reflect the diversity of the local community, although we recognise that large increases in local housing means the community is evolving rapidly.

Our 2024 survey of parents found that of those whose children participate in SCAFT’s services:

  • 100% of children were happier
  • 100% of their children enjoyed the activities
  • 93% felt staff and volunteers understood their child needs, with 100% confident that their child had someone to talk too if they had any concerns
  • 75% felt their child was better able to get on with other people and had improved relationships, both family and with peers
  • 88% felt the level of care and support was good
  • 88% felt their child was better able to engage in education, with 69% achieving better at school
  • 88% felt their child enjoyed playing more, with 67% of children getting more exercise or playing more sport
  • 87% felt that their child was learning new skills
