SCAFT is able to offer local organisations help with raising young carer awareness and knowledge in their staff teams through training sessions to suit their needs. This can be particularly useful for schools aiming to achieve Carers Trust ‘Young Carers in Schools’ or Healthy Schools Awards, but just as relevant for anyone working with children, young people and families, whether on a statutory or voluntary basis.
SCAFT’s annual Young Carers mini-conference provides another great opportunity for children & families professionals and volunteers from across the district to come together to gain awareness skills and share experiences and practice. These are regularly attended by a wide cross section of groups including schools, youth services, housing, health, uniformed organisations, religious groups and other local groups and charities.
