Partnership Opportunities

SCAFT’s services and programs are all voluntarily funded or sponsored and we are currently seeking forward thinking funding partners for the following programs.

If you would like to know more about how you or your business could support carers in our locality please contact us or call 01268 741811

Young Carers Fit4Life is our planned program to improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of all our carers, consisting of tailored approaches for both the young and adult carers.

With as many as 2/3 of carers reporting having to deal with health conditions of their own, either pre-existing or as a result of their caring role e.g. poor mental health, lack of sleep or strains from lifting, it is an important goal to increase the wellbeing of our carers to enable them to stay well both for themselves and their cared for person.

The young carers aspect of the program consists of a range of activities to promote a healthy lifestyle including experiencing a selection of different sports and games together with information on good nutrition and the opportunity to try a variety of healthy options. These activities are mainly delivered through our group sessions, with additional support for mental and physical wellbeing available via the One2One service. In addition to the inherent benefits of these activities we also aim to use them to show the importance of respect for ourselves and each other, together with teamwork and life skills such as cooking.

Now fully funded with much thanks

Almost 10 years ago SCAFT’s Young Carers produced a short video entitled ‘In My Shoes’ giving them a chance to express how their caring responsibilities affected their lives and futures; since then much has changed both for the good, in terms of improved services from SCAFT and other voluntary services, but also for the worst with massively reduced public services. We believe that it’s time this generations young carers are given the opportunity to express themselves through creating a short film for use in educating other young people and those working with them.

Adult and Parent Carers

Fit4Life is our planned program to improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of all our carers, consisting of tailored approaches for both the young and adult carers.

With many of our adult carers suffering from health conditions of their own or older age issues, our offering includes healthy living and eating information, relaxation therapies and chair fitness exercise sessions. We are also able to offer mental health support through counseling at some of our Carers Café sessions and provide access to appropriate training opportunities like manual handling, medication management, first aid and food hygiene.
